Training post involved day to day care of patients in the Neurology ward, teaching
undergraduates and postgraduates in Medicine, emergency and ICU care of Neurological
patients. Gained rich experience in independent decision-making, clinical and
neuroradiological assessment and management of patients in the emergency department
such as acute stroke (thrombolytic therapy), neuromuscular emergencies, central nervous
system infections and status epilepticus. Outpatient services involved independent
management of referred patients in the general neurology clinic and various specialty clinics
like epilepsy clinic, movement disorders clinic, neuromuscular disorders clinic, stroke clinic
and dementia clinic. Experienced in Nerve conduction studies, electromyography, evoked
potentials, EEG and Video-EEG. Assisted in running the Comprehensive Epilepsy Surgery
programme at AIIMS and also observed botox injection clinics.
CARE Poulomi Hospital
Was responsible independently for all neurological outpatients and inpatients in this 150-bed
multi-specialty hospital with a full-fledged ICU. National Accreditation Board for Hospitals &
Healthcare Providers (NABH) accredited hospital.
Salmaniya Medical Complex
Salmaniya Medical Complex is a 1000-bed Ministry of Health tertiary referral hospital with all
specialties. The hospital has Accreditation Canada (AC) certification. Involved in care of
inpatients, outpatient clinic and nerve conduction studies, EMG and reported EEGs.
Responsible for day-to-day management of patients and their discharge from service.
Provided Neurology consultations for other specialty departments in the hospital. Planned
regular academic activities in the department. Member of the departmental Medical Review
Committee, which screened the mortality and morbidity in the specialties of Neurology and
Neurosurgery. Undertook active research and publications in Neurology, have co-authored a
Cochrane meta-analysis. Have formulated departmental Policies and Procedures for the
Ministry of Health, Kingdom of Bahrain for the department of Clinical Neurosciences.
Assisted McKinsey with a clinical quality improvement initiative. Regularly taught medical
students at the Arabian Gulf University and was part of their Professional Skills assessment.
Have attended lectures on evidence-based medicine at the Arabian Gulf University and
workshops on research methodology and statistics.
